Christmas House Tour | 2016

Welcome to one of my favorite blog traditions, our annual Christmas House Tour! This year, I kept it pretty simple --partially because my design business has been keeping me very busy and partially because I read that Japanese decluttering book this year so I'm on a big "less is more" kick. (The Life Changing Art of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo, if you haven't heard of it!) Except for our tree, as it turns out, although that wasn't totally intentional. We ended up picking out our tree at 6pm on a Tuesday. It was pitch dark and freezing rain. But I told Anthony I didn't care, I wanted a tree and I couldn't wait any longer! We picked this one for the height, not realizing that once the branches settled down it would become a full 5 feet in diameter at the bottom! This tree is a monster, and it's definitely taking over the living room but I've grown to love it's absurdity.

I only bought a few new things, but my absolute favorite addition to our holiday decor are the window wreaths you can see hanging outside in these pictures! You can see a picture of the outside of the house on my Instagram, here. I hung them with taupe and gold ribbon from Michaels.

I picked up a pretty plaid wrapping paper from Target, surprising myself by going for traditional Christmas red and green. I used some boxwood branches from our yard and simple white twine to attach my handmade gift tags.

Here's a little detail I don't think I've shared before: I made this stocking by hand with help from my Gram as a gift for Anthony back in 2008. My Gram has a big tin full of buttons, and I got the idea to paint & sew them on in the shape of a Christmas tree. I still remember the afternoon we spent sitting at her kitchen table making this. It's hard to believe it was 8 years ago!

Since we aren't hosting a dinner, I decided not to set the table. In the dining room I reused the boxwood branches from Thanksgiving and replaced the pumpkins with our stockings. I love having the house decorated for the holidays. To me there's nothing better than lighting my holiday candles and cozying up on the couch to watch Christmas movies. We're actually hosting a Christmas Movie Marathon today, so I better go start cooking!

Happy Holidays & thanks for stopping by!

Our Thanksgiving Table

Happy Thanksgiving! Just put the finishing touches on our table, and I couldn't resist popping in to share some photos. Last year, I went super simple with some white pumpkins and my DIY "Give Thanks" printable banner. For this year, I went a little more layered, a little more colorful but kept the natural pumpkin theme.

We're hosting 12 this year, so we also set up my office as a second dining room. One of the many benefits of having an extra large desk! Here's how I decorated our second table:

Alright, I've got to run! Dinner is in a couple of hours and Anthony and I have a few more things to get ready. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. This year, I'm thankful for so many things- including YOU! For rooting me on as I launched my design business full-time, and encouraging me as I tackle decorating our first home room by room. For all the likes, comments and shares. I couldn't do what I do without you!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas House Tour | 2015

Welcome to our holiday house tour! If you are stopping by for the first time, let me introduce myself. I'm Stevie, an Interior Designer from York County, PA where I live with my husband, Anthony and our dog, Chloe. This past April, we purchased our first home-- a charming farmhouse in a little town southeast of York city. This is our first Christmas in our new home, and I've had so much fun decorating! This year, I focused on the living and dining rooms, adding greens and seasonal touches that complement my home's neutral color palette. I bought a few new things (like the pale blue ornaments and bottle brush trees) but for the most part I used things I already had and DIY'd some decorations (like our snowy runner made from quilt batting I had laying around). I'm all about creating big style on a small budget!

Enjoy the tour!

First I made a runner using quilt batting I had bought for another project and arranged the bottle brush trees I found at Walmart on top. I took the mirror down to put up the embrodiery hoop fabric art (a DIY from 3 Christmases ago) and then had the bright idea to layer the mirror under the trees. It reminds me of a Christmas music box my Gram used to have of a little ice skater "skating" across a mirrored "pond".  I filled in with a few candles and called it a centerpiece!

I've had this chalkboard since our first apartment. It was originally a yard sale painting of a creepy owl that Anthony insisted we buy. A year or two later, I gave it the Chalkboard spray paint treatment, which Anthony wasn't too happy about. Oops!

The cutest photobomber you ever did see! Ok Chloe, one more and then it's  time to go into the kitchen for a while.

It's a little early in the season yet, so for now we are displaying Christmas cards we receive on this little tray on our coffee table. Yes, 2 out of the 4 we've gotten so far feature my best friend and her new husband. The even the matchbook I use to light our candles is from their wedding this September. Lindsay, you're blog famous now!

My great-grandmother just gave me this ceramic tree. I had seen them before with colored lights, but never with these pretty white doves! It's my new favorite Christmas decoration-- perfect for this neutral loving lady!

DIY Wedding Lace Ornament ------>Holiday Home Tour 2015- Stevie Storck Design Co.

I DIY'd this ornament yesterday morning before I took these photos. Lace from my mother's wedding dress that I used to wrap the stem of my wedding bouqet + a clear shatterproof ornament = the quickest, easiest DIY ornament ever! Plus it's pretty AND sentimental. That a win-win-win-win in my book!

I layered some clippings from the pine tree in our backyard behind these battery operated candles to decorate our window sills. Isn't the church across the street from us pretty?

It's December 12th and I already have one present wrapped and under the tree? I think that's some kind of record for me. This one's for our sweetie pie nieces, Haven & Glory.  Of course they are the first on our list!

Chloe is very interested in our new stockings. Interested in eating them that is. I put them away overnight so she wouldn't be tempted and then forgot to put them back until I was almost done taking pictures. They are cable knit and faux fur and I found them at Christmas Tree Shops for $5.99 each!

For authenticity's sake, here's a full shot of the back wall of our living room. Those taped lines are my preliminary stage of measuring where I want to hang these shelves I've had painted and ready to go since August. They are on the to-do list every weekend I'm home but we just haven't gotten it done yet. Once we get them up and styled, this corner of the room will definitely feel more finished.
