24.

As of 2:26 AM, I have officially been on this planet for 24 years.

In the last few years I've been blogging, I've never actually posted on my birthday before, but I was inspired by Michaela at Michaela Noelle Designs (check out her site, it's awesome!) to start doing an annual reflection post. I've adapted her questions a little and added a few of my own too. I think it will be fun to look back on these posts to see how my life changes from year to year. Here we go!

March 25, 2015

What are my defining personality traits? Creative (my brain never shuts off, I'm always coming up with new ideas of things to make and do), thoughtful (I spend a lot of time in my own head), determined (once I set my mind on something, I won't give it up), introverted (I need time alone to relax and recharge).

What are my favorite current design trends? Brass fixtures, mixed neutrals, kilim rugs and midcentury modern accents!

What would I tell my younger self? I would remind myself to trust my instincts. There are times where your own values need to be prioritized over "conventional wisdom". There's no right or wrong way to "do life".

What do I want to be better at? I want to be the type of person who makes everyone else in the room feel special and included. I want to get better at starting conversations and not feeling awkward in group settings. This goes against my introvert/wallflower nature, but I want to do more this year to step outside of my comfort zone.

What's been the biggest challenge for me this year? The biggest challenge I had by far this year was figuring out what I wanted out of a job. When I turned 23, I was working in Kitchen & Bath Design. 6 months later, I left that job to work in Residential Interior Design and Furniture sales at INTER!ORS. Leaving one job and transitioning to another is always difficult but I think I made a great decision this year and I am happy about the path that I am on.

What things did I try for the first time this year? I took a pottery class for the first time this year and met some really awesome ladies! I also successfully auditioned for the York Symphony Chorus!

Who makes life fun for me? My wonderful, handsome, hilarious and thoughtful husband, Anthony. He balances me out and makes me laugh until I feel like I'm going to puke! Also, spending time with our two nieces reminds me to live in the moment :)

What is my favorite memory from this year? It's hard to pick just one, so I will pick two! Last April, we spent an awesome long weekend with our college friends in Pittsburgh. I can't wait for our next reunion--in June we'll be spending a week together in California! My other favorite memory would be our first anniversary weekend in West Chester, PA. I love every weekend I get to spend with Anthony but there's just something special about exploring a new town with the person you love!
