Celebrating the Season
We’ll kick off our gathering by sharing some information about the upcoming cross-quarter holiday, known traditionally as Imbolc or Candlemas. Next, we will go around the table sharing brief introductions along with what we are most excited about this season, whether that’s something we are growing, making, doing, or a place we love to return to at this time of year. This is something we do at every CQC event, because it is so enlivening to hear what everyone else is excited about, and there are always new ideas learned and new connections made during this time!
Craft Your Own Crescent Moon Wreath
Our guest instructor is Jennifer Lubman, the talented horticulturist and artisan behind Cedar Farm & Nursery in Airville (formerly, Muhly & Cedar in Shrewsbury). Jennifer’s signature designs combine dried flowers, branches, and leaves with unique accents like moss and mushrooms for a very organic, naturalistic look. Each attendee will be provided with one crescent shaped grapevine wreath and all other materials needed for the workshop. You’ll go home with a finished one-of-a-kind dried wreath, ready to display!
The Sharing Table: Garden Seed Swap
Our suggested theme for this season is a garden seed swap, but please bring anything you have in abundance to share! Other items relevant to our club’s focus on creativity and nature connection are welcome too. There will be a table set aside for the swap when you arrive at the venue. Simply drop off your offering there and then choose a few things to take home with you before you leave! The goal is that the table is empty by the end of the afternoon, so take extra to share with friends and family too! (Remember: the Sharing Table is optional, but encouraged. If you don’t have time to gather something to bring, please don’t let that stop you from participating.)
