Our 2016 & 2017 Christmas Cards

Wishing you all a very merry day after Christmas! I'm sitting here in the living room, watching the sun go up by the light of our Christmas tree. Before the rest of the family wakes up, I wanted to pop on here and share our Christmas cards. Planning, designing and sending out cards every holiday season is one of my very favorite traditions. You can see our 2014 card here and 2015 card here. But somehow, I missed sharing 2016's card here on the blog! So I'm going to share both 2016 & 2017 today. My, what's changed in just a year!

Our annual "Highlights & Wishes" is my answer to a family newsletter. Just a few short lines to update our family and friends on what's new with us each year! I think it's especially interesting to look back on our hopes for each new year. As for our 2017 wishes, we crossed off the last 3 but scrapped the second dog and big trip idea. To be honest, we were originally thinking of starting our family in 2017 but around this time last year we were leaning towards waiting another year. The second dog and trip were kind of like consolation prizes, as exciting as those two things would be! Needless to say, we changed our minds and we are so grateful that we'll be welcoming our first child as our top 2018 Highlight!

2017 Highlights - Travelling across PA for four weddings, Anthony graduating with his Bachelors degree in December, celebrating 4 years of marriage and finding out we are going to be parents next year! 2018 Wishes: A happy, healthy baby!

FYI, I know it's a little late for this year, but if you are looking for a good source for next year's holiday cards I usually order ours from Simply to Impress.

Do you save an extra copy of your Christmas card every year to keep for yourself? I started doing this when we got married and I love pulling out the album every December to put our new card in and take a look back at the past years'.

When we started sharing highlights from the previous year and wishes for the next on the back of our Christmas cards, I decided to make an album where we could hold onto an extra copy, just for us. It's so fun to look back on what has changed from year to year! My latest blog post shares what 2016 events made it onto the back of our card, and some of our hopes and goals for 2017! I'm curious, is it just me or do you order an extra Christmas card to keep too?

Ok, one month check in on my word of the year! Approximately... I know we’re halfway through February but I published that blog post on January 8th. Anyway! My word for 2019 is “Bloom” and my intention is to step further into my potential as a wife, mother, entrepreneur, friend, interior designer and homemaker this year. So what have I done so far that fits into that? Well, I...⠀
⠀
• Started waking up early with Anthony again (not perfect at this but I’m trying!) ⠀
• Hired a studio assistant⠀
• Asked for more help with childcare⠀
• Adjusted Sage’s schedule in a way that feels really good for both of us and is giving Anthony and I more time together in the evenings⠀
• Started taking Sage to our local library and reading more with her • Shifted my mindset to that of artist and I’m making space for expanding on that in my daily creative practice and interior design work⠀
• I’m hosting a blogging boot camp next weekend for some friends who are ready to start their own blogs! ⠀

Writing that out was pretty satisfying! I always have tons of energy for goal setting around New Years but I don’t want to let that trail off as the weeks go by. ⠀
⠀
What intentions did you set in January? How are you doing with them so far? It would make me so happy to read your one month check-ins in the comments below. Let me be part of your cheerleading squad!
We met on the first day of seventh grade —he remembers what I wore that first day of school and I remember him as the quiet boy who sat in the back of our homeroom class and made it my mission to get him to talk to me. Three years later, we finally realized we should be more than best friends, we moved to Pittsburgh together where we fell even deeper in love and on October 12, 2013 we chose each other for life. Now after over a decade together and welcoming our first child, I can truly say I’ve never known a stronger or truer love and I’m incredibly grateful everyday for this man and the life we are building together. ⠀

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! 💘

Sage and I are battling colds this week. Anthony gets irritated with me because when I’m sick I just suffer through it and don’t think to take any medicine. I could never remember what was safe to take when you’re pregnant and now nursing so I’d just whine about it instead. After my big bathroom cupboard declutter and organization project, we didn’t have many medicine options left anyway. (75% of what we had was very expired!) But I can say that the Tylenol he made me take does help take the edge off of sinus pressure! ⠀
⠀
Any one else silly like me when it comes to taking medicine? I know it would help but I guess I’m just lazy when I’m sick and can’t be bothered to take anything.
Creating a Will has been on our to-do list for the last few years. We thought it would be expensive and complicated and honestly, we didn’t know where to start so we just kept putting it off. But with becoming homeowners and parents in the last few years, we knew it was more important than ever to put our affairs in order. Thanks to @trustandwill , we were able to set up and print ours in about 15 minutes. We finally have guardians set up for our daughter and it was much simpler than I thought it would be. Has setting up a Will been on your to-do list too? Follow the link in my profile and get $10 off your Will with the code: ADULTING. | #ad⠀
